Congratulations UUCSC! - December 25, 2007
Congratulations
&
Many Thanks to our Christmas Choristers!
Each and every one of you did a beautiful job on Christmas Eve. I want you to know how much I appreciate the extra time and effort you all put into preparing for this beautiful program.
Whenever we have worked with the professional musicians who have come to be a part of our special programs, they always express to me how very much they appreciate our hospitality, and they are very complimentary about the choir. For example, this time one of them said to me, “Wow – your choir is always really great!”, and they meant it!
I look forward to the next time – and I encourage you all to congratulate yourselves.
Thank You,
Sylvia

Movie Music - December 18, 2007
Well the current excitement here is that I am now working on creating the music (composing & conducting) for the promo clips for the upcoming feature film, "Notes from the New World" - a new film based on Dostoyevsky's classic novella, "Notes from the Underground". The film is being produced by VM Productions. You can find out more about VM and their recent highly praised film, "Shades of Day" by visiting their website, http://www.shadesofday.com/VMP/
December - December 18, 2007

Long Time.... - September 2, 2007
Wow - it's been WAY TOO LONG since I updated this page! - It's been a wildly busy summer - many Pops concerts - indoors and out - with many orchestras - also - I've been busy with some film projects - you can see a couple of sample videos with my music - They are listed on my "Music" page - please take a look!
Also - I am beginning work on the music for a new feature film - a drama/romance which confronts many of the challenges encountered in cross-cultural relationships.
Watch for clips to come in the near future....
Next.... - June 13, 2007
Superheroes have come and gone - great show, exhausting (my arms got sore with all that flying!)
Speaking of superheroes - there is a great young cellist playing Bloch's "Schelomo" with the Peninsula Symphony on Sunday the 24th of June.
The orchestra is also busy prepping Borodin's 2nd Symphony and Ravel's "Valses Nobles et Sentimentales" Both these works are delightful - full of explosions of orchestral color...
It's A Bird - It's a Plane - It's the GSPO Superhero Concert! - June 6, 2007
Whew! - after exhausting rehearsals (it's tiring to keep up all that flying hero music going for hours at a time...) anyway - the concert is almost here! This Saturday (June 9th) at 8om at the Warner Grand in San Pedro - watch for the arrival of Superman, Batman, the Rocketeer, Spidey, X-men, the Fantastic Four - and - exclusive to the GSPO this weekend - The Silver Surfer (From the NEW Fantastic Four Movie!)
But Seriously - the concert is going to be a blast - check it out!
And so it goes... - May 30, 2007
The concert May 25th was tiring - but fun! I love it when in the midst of a symphony orchestra concert, the viola is acually featured - great fun!..(and it doesn't happen all that often - so of course I seize the opportunity when it does!
Now of course all is "full speed ahead" to prep for the next few shows - and the next CD release...
Speaking of CD's -Progress continues on the next CD - "Enchanted Dreams" - just a few tracks to go, and it will be ready for final edits, and then ready for YOU!
By the way - if yu're looking for a "fun concert" - try the Golden State Pops Orchestra's "Superheros and Beyond" concert on June 9th - Featurung music from Superman, Spidey, Batman - even premieres of the music from Fantastic Four -including Silver Surfer - which opens in theatres a week after we do our show...
Stay tuned!
Gypsy Viola! - May 25, 2007
I regularly perform as principal viola with the Beach Cities Symphony. For those of you who don't frequent "classical" concerts much - tonight's event might be a fun introduction.
I'm really looking forward to performing in tonight's Beach Citie's Symphony concert at El Camino College - and the best part is - it's free! Actually - for me the best part is that I get a featured viola solo in one of the big orchestra pieces....it's kind of a gypsy-style, fiery romp through the orchestra - the title of the piece is "Roumanian Rhapsody No.1", by George Enescu. The Rhapsody is the finale of the show...
Also on this concert, the orchestra features 4 young soloists - they are the winners of the Music Teacher's Association "Artists of the Future" contest. There are two pianists, and two violinists. All these young folks are dedicated to their music, and are gifted young musicians.
The first selection on the concert is a "Serenade for Orchestra", written by the conductor of this group, Barry Brisk. This piece is an exploration of emotions - as portrayed by music with the tool of the symphony orchestra.
This New Site is Up! - May 20, 2007
Well - I finally have done it - set up this new site with hostbaby.com (THIS hosting company) I love the ease of use - and many of you have responded by letting me know that you like the site and it's features - watch for more music and more info soon!
